Algo Más de Lola transforms Casa Basalta during Mexico City Art Week into an immersive environment where art, sound, and architecture dissolve the boundary between viewer and work, offering art that transcends the frame.
During Mexico City Art Week, when the city moves at a relentless pace and attention is split between fairs, openings, and late nights, Algo Más de Lola proposes a different way of engaging with art. Presented by Call Me Lola at Casa Basalta, the project is guided by a clear philosophy, art that transcends the frame.
Housed inside a 1910 Art Déco residence reimagined by architect Rodrigo Lastra, Algo Más de Lola transforms architecture into an active medium. Light, sound, and spatial design converge to dissolve the traditional boundaries between artwork, viewer, and environment. Art is no longer something you stand in front of, it becomes something you step inside.
Open to the public from January 30 through February 9, 2026, the installation has positioned itself as one of Art Week’s most resonant experiences, drawing collectors, curators, international press, and a wider cultural audience seeking depth beyond the fair circuit. Tickets and entry options for Algo Más de Lola and its surrounding program are available directly through Call Me Lola’s site here:
As part of the wider Mexico City Art Week landscape, Algo Más de Lola sits within a broader constellation of fairs, exhibitions, and gatherings across the city. For a complete view of what’s happening beyond Casa Basalta, explore SAVANT’s full Mexico City Art Week guide here:
At the core of the installation is a seamless white chamber designed to suspend visual reference points and heighten awareness. Two monumental hollow cylinders anchor the space, each functioning as an immersive portal. Inside them, art becomes atmosphere. Visitors inhabit emotional and sensory worlds rather than observing discrete objects, reinforcing Call Me Lola’s belief that art reaches its fullest potential when it transcends the frame and enters lived experience.
The participating artists define these internal universes. Fernanda Brunet brings her vibrant, maximalist visual language, using color and abstraction to explore desire and emotional intensity. Sandra Leal works through transformation and material experimentation, creating spaces that resonate on an emotional level as much as a visual one. Sound moves fluidly through the installation via Iris in the Sky, whose live looping, organic textures, and vocal improvisations form a sonic landscape that subtly alters perception.
Curated by Kira Bayankina, the project reflects a curatorial approach centered on access, intimacy, and emotional resonance. Rather than offering didactic explanations, Algo Más de Lola asks a quieter question, how does an immersive experience change the way we feel, perceive, and exist within space.

The design vision comes from Nate Long, co founder of Call Me Lola and lead designer of the installation. Inspired by Claude Monet’s Water Lilies and the sensation of being lost within an infinite field of art, Long envisioned an environment that strips away distraction. The cylinders housing Brunet’s and Leal’s works function as thresholds, moments where bodily awareness heightens and attention turns inward. This perceptual shift sits at the heart of the work.
Presented in collaboration with SAENGER Galería, Algo Más de Lola reflects Call Me Lola’s nonprofit, artist led model. What began as a single lived in home has evolved into a prototype for a new cultural framework, one where art, hospitality, and emotional connection are inseparable.
Algo Más de Lola does not exist in isolation. Throughout Art Week, the installation is surrounded by a curated sequence of talks, gatherings, and experiences that extend its ethos into conversation, community, and shared presence. Casa Basalta and Call Me Lola’s Roma Sur location become active sites of exchange, with access and reservations managed through Call Me Lola’s official ticketing platform.

In a week defined by velocity and visibility, Algo Más de Lola offers an alternative rhythm. By centering immersion over spectacle and conversation over performance, Call Me Lola creates space for art that lingers long after leaving the room. Art that does not remain within its frame, but moves with you.
