San Miguel’s YAM Gallery Marks a Decade at Zona Maco

San Miguel’s YAM Gallery marks a decade at Zona Maco, bringing together Cisco Jiménez and Taller 30 artists Iván Puig and Daniela Edburg in a presentation that extends from the fair floor into Mexico City Art Week’s wider cultural landscape.

As Mexico City Art Week approaches, YAM Gallery, based in San Miguel de Allende, returns to Zona Maco, marking ten years of participation at one of Latin America’s most influential art fairs. The milestone reflects more than longevity. It signals a sustained commitment to contemporary Mexican art and to practices that move fluidly between material, concept, and cultural memory.

Founded in 2006 by Adolfo Caballero, YAM Gallery has consistently positioned itself as a platform for artists whose work resists easy categorization. This year’s presentation continues that approach, bringing together practices that engage popular culture, identity, technology, and the constructed nature of reality.

The Booth: Material, Memory, and Cultural Codes

At Zona Maco 2026, YAM Gallery presents work by Cisco Jiménez, an artist known for bridging painting, sculpture, and assemblage. Drawing from popular culture, craft traditions, and historical references, Jiménez constructs visual languages that feel both intimate and collective. His works often function as layered archives, where fragments of everyday life become vessels for memory, irony, and critique.

Alongside Jiménez, the gallery presents collaborative works by Iván Puig and Daniela Edburg, whose joint practice explores technology, consumption, identity, and the tension between reality and fiction. Their work is developed through Taller 30, a long-term collaborative studio that functions as both a site of production and conceptual exchange. The duo’s projects examine how contemporary life is mediated and staged, offering a critical lens on systems that quietly shape daily experience.

Betsabé Romero - Mirage in the Penumbra

Beyond the Fair: Betsabé Romero’s Parallel Presentation

In parallel with Zona Maco, Mexican artist Betsabé Romero presents her solo exhibition Espejismo en la Penumbra as part of the fair’s parallel program. Opening February 3, 2026, the exhibition takes place at the Club de Industriales and will be available for private view during Art Week.

Romero’s work explores themes of identity, migration, and Mexican cultural narratives, often through the use of everyday materials such as tires and automobiles. In Espejismo en la Penumbra, sculpture and installation become tools for reflecting on displacement, movement, and the layered realities of contemporary society.

This parallel presentation extends YAM Gallery’s Art Week presence beyond the fair, situating its artists within the wider cultural rhythm of Mexico City.

A Decade of Presence

YAM Gallery’s ten-year participation at Zona Maco underscores a long-term investment in artistic practices that are both locally grounded and conceptually expansive. As Art Week unfolds across convention halls, private venues, and temporary architectures, the gallery’s presentation offers a considered entry point into contemporary Mexican production, shaped by material intelligence, critical inquiry, and sustained dialogue rather than spectacle alone.

Zona Maco tickets and visitor information are available through the fair’s official site, with passes granting access to gallery presentations, curated sections, and parallel programming throughout the week.
