Natural light in the high desert is a short window and a hard editor. Paola Sandoval works inside it rather than against it. She is an editorial photographer and creative director based in San Miguel de Allende, working across hospitality, gastronomy, wellness, jewelry and weddings, for independent brands and private clients. Her eye goes where others don’t: to the unguarded moment, the overlooked corner, the part of a scene no one thought to frame. What she finds there, she turns into something closer to art than record. The palette is restrained, either high-contrast black and white or muted earth tones drawn from the surfaces the images were made against. The approach is documentary, but the result is atmosphere. Clients come to her for the character of a place, not an inventory of it. Creative direction and styling arrive with the camera, so a project speaks in one visual language instead of three. Recent work includes a production with Ana Hinojosa, and commissions for Restaurante Nudol, Turia My Pearl, Haus Wellness and SAVANT magazine. The images read as found rather than arranged. Most of them were arranged.
